2. 암기할 문장: (1) Online shopping in Korea rose 16 percent on-year in August on the back of surging demand for travel during the vacation season amid ease Covid-19 restrictions and growing grocery shopping for preparations for the Chuseok holiday, data showed Tuesday.

(2) It marked the second largest monthly figure ever since 2017, when the agency adopted the current data compiling system.

(3) By item, online shopping for food and beverage advanced 27.3 percent on-year to 2.67 trillion won, also a record high, as an increasing number of people used online platforms to prepare for Chuseok, or the Korean fall harvest celebration.

3. 내용요약 및 느낀점: Online shopping platforms such as "coupang," "emart," or "Naver Shopping" have been getting a lot of attention more than ever since the Covid-19 outbreak. Many people stayed indoors in fear of catching coronavirus or because of the quarantine. Whether they were willing to be stuck in their houses or not, they had to do shopping for daily goods or basic necessities, which led to the surging demand for online shopping. I believe this has largely to do with the increasing number of online shopping users for the Chuseok holiday this year. As the article says, I, myself, purchased all the Chuseok gifts online for my relatives and family members because I had qualms about going to the open places for groceries in times like this. But I don't think that high demands for online shopping like this won't slow down even if the Covid-19 pandemic ends. I believe that this is one of the most typical signs of the new normal after the pandemic.
