- Theme: What does your kid do for imaginative play? If he/she doesn't, what kind of play would you do with him/her?
My boy is too young to role-play yet. So, if I can get him to engage in imaginative play, I will be eager to use some toys designed for imanginative play or tools that I can easily find at home, such as utensils, books, etc. He can pretend to be a cook, a teacher, a student, or someone he wants to become in the future. And I will show proper and sincere responses to his acting so that I can interact with him appropriately and he will be fully immersed in role-playing. Or he may have a new sibling in the near future if I get preganant. If that happens, he will have more opportunities to learn social interactions and different language usage in many ordinary and entertaining discourses, benefitting from role-playing or imaginative play.
2.
(1) My kid likes to be a teacher while we do imaginative play sometimes.
My children love imaginative play and he always wants to act as a teacher, which means I have to pretend to be a student.
(2) He usually tries to teach me what-to-do or what-not-to-do.
He knows what is the right thing to do, so he tries to teach me when it seems like I am doing the wrong things during role-playing.
(3) As we play this, he seems to practice what I have taught him to do before.
What is good about imaginative play is that he can practice what he has learned or experienced in everyday life.
