My 4-month-old son has just started trying to roll over. He hasn't succeeded yet. Precisely speaking, it is not about making a mistake but about failing in trying new things, but I thought that making a mistake could be seen as a part of failing in things as well. So, even though he is too young to understand my words, I told him that it is always okay to make a mistake or experience failure and the hurt from mistakes or failure is good. There is a quite moving quote from Stranger Things, my recent favorite TV show, "the hurt is good. It means you are out of that cave," which I told him this afternoon. Whenever he gets frustrated, I will keep telling him the quote and assure him that I am always on his side, I am always backing him, there is nothing to be afraid, and it is perfectly fine to get out of the comfort zone. Above all, I believe it is important to cultivate a healthy environment where mistakes and failure are accepted, not chastised, so that he always feels safe without getting hurt from the hurt.
[Write Your Thoughts]
- One time, I lied to my kid to avoid a situation that I made by accident. - One day, I told a lie in order to escape from a situation I made by mistake.
2. I know I shouldn't have lied to him/her. - I know telling lies isn't good for my kid. I should've realized that before I had lied to him/her.
3. If this happend again, I would honestly say and explain to him/her that I was wrong. - I will admit my faults and make sure that this won't happen ever again.
